Have you ever heard the saying, “Your body craves what it needs?” That shocked me the first time I heard it! Actually, science proves that your body craves more of what you are already giving it. It is called metabolic programming. For example, if you eat mostly fast food, foods high in sugar, and carbonated beverages, your body will crave more of it. On the other hand, if you choose to eat fruit, salads, and lean meats, your body will crave more of that. You are the master of your body! You have the power to program it every day with your lifestyle in either a positive way or a negative one.
So, what if you have programmed your body for years with bad food, but now desire to make a change? You can re-program your body with the correct foods, although in the beginning your body and taste buds may resist you. You must push through the initial cravings and temptations and stand your ground by eating proper foods. If you eat well and exercise on a regular basis, you will start to feel more energetic, more alert, and in time will start to crave more healthy foods. You’ll also find yourself craving that good feeling you get from exercise and a healthy lifestyle, which will help keep you motivated.
So, don’t believe the myth, “Your body craves what it needs.” Choose to program your body with what it needs to function properly. Don’t rely on your feelings to lead your life! Make a right choice and your body will get in line later with the right result – by getting healthier – inside and out!
